Management Occupations drive electric vehicles-related hiring activity

Management Occupations, with a share of 18%, emerged as the top electric vehicles-related job roles within the power industry in Q3 2023, with new job postings drop by 7% quarter-on-quarter. Computer and Mathematical Occupations came in second with a share of 13% in Q3 2023, with new job postings dropping by 29% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent electric vehicles roles include Architecture and Engineering Occupations with a 12% share in Q3 2023, Business and Financial Operations Occupations with a 6% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in power industry accounted for 39% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q3 2023 were Electricite de France, Envision Energy, Centrica, Siemens, and Elektro Eletricidade E Servicos. Together they accounted for a combined share of 39% of all electric vehicles-related new jobs in the power industry.

Electricite de France posted 128 electric vehicles-related new jobs in Q3 2023, Envision Energy 96 jobs, Centrica 90 jobs, Siemens 65 jobs, and Elektro Eletricidade E Servicos 44 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the UK with a 39.74% share of total new job postings, Q3 2023

The largest share of electric vehicles-related new job postings in the power industry in Q3 2023 was in the UK with 39.74% followed by the US (29.57%) and Canada (8.69%). The share represented by the UK was 12 percentage points higher than the 27.33% share it accounted for in Q2 2023.
