Notably, Management Occupations jobs accounted for a 15% share of the global power industry’s digitalization-related total new job postings in Q3 2023, down 17% over the prior quarter.

Management Occupations drive digitalization-related hiring activity

Management Occupations, with a share of 15%, emerged as the top digitalization-related job roles within the power industry in Q3 2023, with new job postings drop by 17% quarter-on-quarter. Computer and Mathematical Occupations came in second with a share of 14% in Q3 2023, with new job postings dropping by 36% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent digitalization roles include Architecture and Engineering Occupations with an 8% share in Q3 2023, Business and Financial Operations Occupations with a 6% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in power industry accounted for 61% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q3 2023 were Siemens, Schneider Electric, Siemens Energy, Engie, and AES. Together they accounted for a combined share of 61% of all digitalization-related new jobs in the power industry.

Siemens posted 3,507 digitalization-related new jobs in Q3 2023, Schneider Electric 1,353 jobs, Siemens Energy 662 jobs, Engie 464 jobs, and AES 334 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 36.80% share of total new job postings, Q3 2023

The largest share of digitalization-related new job postings in the power industry in Q3 2023 was in the US with 36.80% followed by Germany (12.20%) and India (6.57%). The share represented by the US was one percentage point lower than the 38.26% share it accounted for in Q2 2023.
