Notably, Management Occupations jobs accounted for a 14% share of the global power industry’s energy transition-related total new job postings in Q3 2023, down 18% over the prior quarter.

Management Occupations drive energy transition-related hiring activity

Management Occupations, with a share of 14%, emerged as the top energy transition-related job roles within the power industry in Q3 2023, with new job postings drop by 18% quarter-on-quarter. Architecture and Engineering Occupations came in second with a share of 10% in Q3 2023, with new job postings dropping by 2% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent energy transition roles include Computer and Mathematical Occupations with a 9% share in Q3 2023, Business and Financial Operations Occupations with a 6% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in power industry accounted for 25% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q3 2023 were NextEra Energy, RWE, Sunrun, Engie, and Siemens. Together they accounted for a combined share of 25% of all energy transition-related new jobs in the power industry.

NextEra Energy posted 991 energy transition-related new jobs in Q3 2023, RWE 864 jobs, Sunrun 838 jobs, Engie 793 jobs, and Siemens 776 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 55.56% share of total new job postings, Q3 2023

The largest share of energy transition-related new job postings in the power industry in Q3 2023 was in the US with 55.56% followed by the UK (13.21%) and Germany (4.96%). The share represented by the US was five percentage points lower than the 60.07% share it accounted for in Q2 2023.
